The main troops of House Bolton, who are their spearmen, are without exception instructed following the combat doctrine of that House, which seeks to cause fear and panic among the enemy ranks at all times. Due to this, although their armor is not thick and they do not have heavy weapons, they are still a fearsome unit on the battlefield. What's more, their helms and shields are heavily spiked whose purpose, rather than serving as a crude combat advantage, is to strike fear into the enemy ranks as wave after wave of barbed horrors descend upon them. In addition, these spearmen are trained to direct their blows to those points on their enemies where they can inflict terrible but not fatal wounds. In this way, they leave behind a multitude of prisoners so that their House can indulge in their cruel hobbies with them.
