The Old Ones ruled the Earth eons before man, but remains of their cyclopean cities can still be found today on remote Pacific islands, beneath the sands of vast deserts, and in the frigid desolations of the polar caps. In the beginning they came to this world from the stars, but now they sleep; some, in the depths of the earth, and others, under the sea. However, when the stars are in position, they will rise up and walk the Earth again.

The Call of Cthulhu is a role-playing game full of secrets, mysteries and horror based on the work of H. P. Lovecraft. Playing the role of a determined investigator, you will travel to strange and dangerous places, unmask evil conspiracies and face the terrors of the night. You will encounter sanity-defying entities, monsters, and insane cultists. Among strange and forgotten tomes of knowledge you will find secrets that man should not know. It is very likely that you and your companions decide the fate of the world.

The Guardian's Handbook contains the basic rules, background, tips, spells, and monsters of the game. It is an exclusive tool for the player who acts as Guardian, the one in charge of presenting the adventure to the rest of the players. In order to play Call of Cthulhu it is necessary to have at least one copy of this book. The other players, who will play the investigators, should have one or more copies of the Investigator's Guide, which provides additional rules for character creation, skills, occupations, equipment, and much more. This seventh edition of Call of Cthulhu is compatible with all previously released Chaosium products within this line.
